The resettlement area will be built for local people whose land will be used to serve the Long Thanh International Airport.

The resettlement has a total area of over 280ha which can accommodate up to 28,500 people.

The technical infrastructure of the resettlement area includes roads, water supply systems, electricity systems, fire prevention systems, and wastewater treatment systems.

The construction of technical infrastructure is scheduled for completion in five months with a total investment capital of over VND460 billion (US$19.71 million), sourced from the State budget.

The Loc An – Binh Son resettlement area is among five sub-projects of the initiative on providing compensation and resettlement areas for people affected by the Long Thanh project.

Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Cao Tien Dung said that the resettlement area will provide accommodation for the first 700 households who will relocate in order to facilitate the building of the Long Thanh airport.

The province is expected to hand over the resettlement area with fully-equipped technical infrastructure to these households in August 2020 so that they can start to build their own houses, Dung noted.

The construction of the Long Thanh Airport is planned to begin in 2021.
