* During Chinese Premier Li Qiang's ongoing official visit to Indonesia, the two countries highlighted the contemporary value of the Bandung Spirit and pledged for closer bilateral cooperation as well as better strategic coordination.

* The South African parliament on Saturday marked Africa Day by calling for a commitment to a conflict-free continent and universal education for African children. Africa Day is observed annually on May 25 to celebrate the achievements of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the predecessor of the African Union (AU), from its creation on May 25, 1963.

* Law enforcement authorities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have detained a senior official who was largely responsible for a recent failed warship launch, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Monday.

* U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday made harsh remarks on both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after Russia and Ukraine conducted large-scale drone and missile attacks on each other on the same day.

* U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that he agreed to postpone the planned 50 percent tariff on imports from the EU until July 9 following a call from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen requesting an extension.

* U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said he wants the "names and countries" of every international student enrolled at Harvard University. The demand came just days after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from revoking Harvard's ability to enroll foreign students.

* Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has condemned Israel's limiting of aid to Gaza as "unacceptable". Albanese on Monday described the blockade of food and supplies to people "who are in need" in Gaza as "outrageous" and said that he has indicated Australia's position directly to the Israeli government.

* Malta will officially recognize Palestine as a state, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced on Sunday.

* The Ugandan military said Sunday that it has suspended all defense and military cooperation with Germany over the latter's conduct in the East African country.

* A total of 480 Afghan refugee families returned to Afghanistan from the neighboring Pakistan and Iran on Sunday, reported the state-owned Bakhtar news agency on Monday.

* Iran will welcome the launch of a uranium enrichment center in the region, but will continue uranium enrichment on its soil, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday.

* Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in Istanbul on Sunday with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which they vowed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, according to statements released by the two sides.

* At least 34 Palestinians, including a journalist and an official of the Civil Defense in Gaza, were killed on Sunday in Israeli attacks across Gaza, said Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense.

* Yemen's major Red Sea ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Issa lost some 1.4 billion USD from July 2024 to May this year amid U.S. and Israeli airstrikes, the Houthi group said Sunday.

* Singapore's manufacturing output rose 5.9 percent year-on-year in April, following a 6.8 percent increase in March, according to data released by the Economic Development Board on Monday. Excluding the biomedical manufacturing cluster, output increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

* Greece's tourism sector is projected to maintain its strong growth in 2025, with international arrivals expected to increase by 5 percent compared to 2024, the state-run news agency AMNA reported on Sunday.

* Israeli researchers have found dangerous, antibiotic-resistant Vibrio bacteria in the Mediterranean and Red Seas, raising public health concerns, Tel Aviv University (TAU) said in a statement on Sunday.

* Pakistan launched its third National Polio Vaccination Campaign of 2025 on Sunday to immunize more than 45 million children under the age of 5 against polio, said the health ministry.
