The Japan Innovation Party on Sunday agreed to grant its party leaders full authority to decide on entering a coalition government with the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), local media reported. The party will hold an emergency executive session on Monday to formally finalize its stance, Kyodo News reported.

* Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday that he will run for office again in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

* Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire during a round of negotiations held in the Qatari capital of Doha, according to a statement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday. The talks, mediated by Qatar and Türkiye, led the two sides to reach an agreement on ending hostilities and establishing mechanisms aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability between the two neighboring countries, the statement said.

* Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced Saturday the launch of military drills codenamed the "Great Corridor of the Venezuelan Plain" as part of the "Independence 200" operation to strengthen national defense amid perceived U.S. military threats.

* The U.S. Department of State on Saturday said it has received credible reports suggesting Hamas is planning an imminent attack against Palestinian civilians. The United States has alerted the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of those reports, it said in a statement.

* The Israeli army carried out airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday after accusing Hamas of firing an anti-tank missile and gunfire at Israeli troops dismantling infrastructure in Rafah under the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

* Hamas on Sunday rejected a statement from the U.S. Department of State that the Palestinian militant group would launch an attack against Palestinian civilians. The U.S. State Department said Saturday that it had received "credible reports" suggesting that Hamas is planning an imminent attack against Palestinian civilians.

* Israel handed over 15 bodies of Palestinians to Gaza on Sunday through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), bringing the total number of bodies returned to 150, according to the Gaza-based health authorities.

* Hamas said Saturday that Israel's continued closure of the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip will "delay recovery operations and the handover of bodies of Israeli hostages."

* Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Saturday strongly condemned Israel for "frequent violations" of the ceasefire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

* Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday spoke by phone about efforts to support Gaza's reconstruction, as well as developments of the Palestinian issue amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

* The Italian cabinet on Friday passed the new budget bill for 2026, including tax cuts and other measures worth 18.7 billion euros (21.8 billion USD) in total.

* The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading domestic and international aid agencies, the ministry said in a statement Sunday. Allocating over 1.48 million USD to assist returning refugees and internally displaced families across multiple provinces, the deals will benefit more than 6,947 families and 88,237 individuals, according to the statement.

* Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has unveiled upgraded versions of two of its homegrown ballistic missiles, along with overhauled launchers that were damaged during the 12-day war with Israel, according to a report by state-run IRIB TV on Saturday.

* A total of 170 Afghan inmates imprisoned in Pakistan and Iraq have been released and returned home on Friday, Afghanistan's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said on Saturday.

* China had 515 million generative artificial intelligence (AI) users as of June 2025, with the user base doubling within six months, according to a report released on Saturday. This figure was up by 266 million from the December 2024 figure, elevating the user penetration rate to 36.5 percent in China, said the report released by the China Internet Network Information Center.

* Pakistan has suffered estimated damages of about 2.9 billion USD from recent floods that caused large-scale destruction across the country, Pakistani Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has said.

* Pledged foreign direct investments (FDI) in Nepal more than doubled in the first three months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, the Department of Industry said on Sunday. Nepal received FDI pledges worth 35.13 billion Nepali rupees (249.42 million USD) between mid-July and mid-October, up from 15.42 billion rupees during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

* Sri Lanka's Road Development Authority (RDA) will install safety barriers along hazardous embankments in three mountainous provinces following a recent rise in road accidents, a senior official said Sunday.
