This is the second time that Lua has won a ticket to the Summer Olympic Games.

The Vietnamese wrestler went through to the final in the women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Hsin-ju and Uzbekistan’s Zukhra Mustanova.

Under the rules of the qualifying round, the two athletes making it to the final in each event will qualify for the Rio Olympics scheduled to take place in August this year.

In the final game, Lua lost to the Mongolian wrestler Sumiyaa but still secured an Olympic ticket.

Lua could have qualified earlier if she was not upended in the more than 30 seconds of a qualifier at the World Wrestling Championships held in the United States in September 2015.

Prior to Lua, Vietnam had won six tickets to the 2016 Olympics, including three in weightlifting, two in shooting (Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong) and one in swimming (Nguyen Thi Anh Vien).
