122-year old woman in Ho Chi Minh City recognised oldest in the world

The World Record Association (WRA) has recognised Nguyen Thi Tru, 122 years old, living in Da Phuoc commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City as the oldest woman in the world.

Tru was born on May 4, 1893 in Ho Chi Minh City. She has three sons and eight daughters, nine of whom died and the alive are over 80 years old.

She was also recognised as the oldest woman in Vietnam and in Asia in August by the Vietnam and Asia Record Associations.

A representative from the WRA has planned to present the association’s world record certificate to Tru in June.

The world’s oldest woman recognised earlier by WRA was Japan’s Misao Okawa who passed away in April 1 at 117.
