The ambassador presented his credentials to ASEAN Secretary-General Le Luong Minh in Jakarta on May 6.
Congratulating Quaunine on his new role, Secretary-General Minh stressed that the ambassador could play an important role in forging co-operation between ASEAN and Bangladesh, as well as within the framework of the ASEAN-South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC).
Secretary-General Minh briefed the Bangladeshi Ambassador on the progress of building an ASEAN Community.
For his part, Ambassador Quaunine stressed Bangladesh’s growing interest in strengthening relations with ASEAN, especially in developing the east-west economic corridor which passes through Bangladesh, Myanmar and the other ASEAN member states.
He said his country was exploring economic growth areas along its borders with India and Myanmar, which will serve as gateways to ASEAN.
