Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee, Le Van Su, announced that the festival, themed “Ca Mau Crab: Flavour of the Forest – Taste of the Sea”, will take place from November 16 to 22. The event aims not only to promote the Ca Mau crab brand but also to highlight the province’s distinctive culinary culture and OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods.
The week-long celebration will feature a wide range of activities, including trade exhibitions, cultural and tourism showcases, forums, and professional seminars.
Highlights include the Southern Don Ca Tai Tu Music Festival, a crab-themed culinary space, the Ca Mau Marathon 2025, and new eco-tourism tours. A kick-off event titled “Hello Ca Mau” will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from November 13 to 15, helping to generate nationwide attention ahead of the festival.
According to Su, the event reflects Ca Mau’s commitment to sustainable development and international integration while affirming the cultural and economic value of its famous crab, a symbol of pride for the southernmost province of Viet Nam.
Crab is one of Ca Mau’s two key aquaculture products, second only to shrimp, and has been granted geographical indication certification, an important legal tool for brand protection and market expansion.
In 2024, the province’s crab farming area reached 252,000 hectares, producing over 25,200 tonnes. Ca Mau aims to become the country’s largest crab farming hub, targeting 40,000 tonnes by 2030.
