The Ha Noi Party Committee and People’s Committee unveiled a commemorative plaque at the site, recognising it as a symbolic project celebrating the 80th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 –2025) and the National Day (September 2, 1945 –2025).

The ceremony was attended by Politburo members including Tran Cam Tu, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Secretariat; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation; Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; and Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee.

House No. 48 Hang Ngang holds a special place in Viet Nam’s history. Following the August Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh stayed here to draft the Declaration of Independence, which was proclaimed at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam. The site was listed as a national historic relic in 1979.

After recent restoration, the house has been preserved with original space and artefacts carefully reconstructed. Modern technologies including mapping, VR, and hologram applications have been introduced to enhance visitors’ experience and educational value.

According to Bach Lien Huong, Director of Ha Noi’s Department of Culture and Sports, the project reflects the city’s commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage while embracing digital transformation.

Recognising its historical and cultural significance, the Ha Noi People’s Committee officially deemed the site a commemorative project for the anniversaries of the August Revolution and National Day.

To mark the occasion, an exhibition was opened at the site, featuring rare images and artefacts under three themes: the patriotic bourgeois family Trinh Van Bo – Hoang Thi Minh Ho and their house at 48 Hang Ngang, the historical context and necessity of the Declaration of Independence, and the meaning of the declaration and the journey to defend national independence.

The ceremony concluded with senior Party and city leaders cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the exhibition and unveiling the commemorative plaque, reaffirming the enduring legacy of the August Revolution and President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence.
