Vo Nguyen Giap Street runs along the coast for seven kilometres, from the Hoang Sa – Nguyen Huy Chuong intersection to the Truong Sa – Minh Mang intersection.
The street linking Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) streets has been named after General Vo Nguyen Giap not only to honour the people’s general, but also to express belief in the indisputable sovereignty over the two archipelagos.
General Vo Nguyen Giap passed away in Hanoi this October at the age 102. According to Vietnamese tradition, he was considered to be 103.
Since his death, many provinces and cities throughout Vietnam have named some of their most beautiful streets in honour of the revered general.
