He made the statement on December 5 during his reception for Melissa A. Brown, the new US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Introducing Da Nang’s socio-economic development strategy for the coming period, Nguyen Dinh Vinh emphasised the city’s key development orientations in the fields of an international financial centre, high technology, the semiconductor industry, and AI.

The cooperative and friendly relations between Da Nang and US partners are currently developing strongly, achieving many important results across various sectors such as science–technology, healthcare, tourism, education, and investment. Da Nang now maintains official cooperative ties with three cities in the US.

In its international economic development strategy, the US has consistently been identified as one of Da Nang’s key partners, playing an important role in promoting strategic cooperation areas. To date, Da Nang has attracted 92 investment projects from the US, with total registered capital exceeding 511 million USD, ranking third among foreign investors in the city.

These projects are concentrated in the city’s priority sectors such as high technology, supporting industries, tourism, real estate, and services. The establishment of the Da Nang–US Cooperation Promotion Task Force is a strategic step that demonstrates the city’s determination to accompany US partners in crucial fields including high technology, innovation, the digital economy, and sustainable development.

Sharing her views on Da Nang’s future development across multiple priority sectors, Melissa A. Brown expressed her desire to continue promoting economic cooperation between Viet Nam and the US in general, and with US enterprises investing in Da Nang in particular. She especially hoped that Da Nang would facilitate opportunities for US companies to invest in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone and the Da Nang International Financial Centre.
