On April 5, on the occasion of Bunpimay, the traditional New Year festival of the Lao ethnic groups in 2026, a working delegation from the Da Nang City Military Command, led by Colonel Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Political Commissar, visited Dak Cheung district in Sekong Province of Laos. The delegation presented gifts, conducted medical check-ups and distributed free medicines to local residents.
The gifts carried heartfelt sentiments, reflecting the care, solidarity and sense of responsibility of the officers and soldiers of Da Nang’s armed forces towards people in the border areas of the neighbouring country as they celebrate Bunpimay.
Alongside the gift-giving, medical personnel in the delegation conducted health examinations, provided consultations and distributed free medicines to more than 450 local residents. The activities were organised thoughtfully and practically, contributing to primary healthcare provision while offering timely encouragement and support to families facing difficulties.
Local Party committees, authorities and residents of Dak Cheung District expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for the attention and support from the Da Nang Military Command. Local people also presented the delegation with traditional gifts and local produce as a simple yet heartfelt gesture of thanks.
Beyond its profound humanitarian significance, the annual programme also contributes to improving the livelihoods of border communities and further strengthening the special, loyal and enduring relationship between the peoples of Viet Nam and Laos in general, and between Da Nang City and Sekong Province in particular.
