Da Nang enhances cooperation with Laos’s Sekong Province

Party Secretary and Governor of the Lao province of Sekong Leklai Sivilay have engaged in many activities in Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang within the framework of his official visit to Vietnam on June 10-11.

On the morning of June 11, the Lao official presented the third-class Freedom Order awarded by the Lao government to Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council in recognition of his contributions to strengthening the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

Earlier on June 10, Da Nang Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang had a working session with Sekong Party Secretary Leklai Sivilay, where he affirmed that Da Nang always treasures the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the cooperation between Da Nang and southern and central Lao provinces.

He added that Da Nang would continue working with Sekong to implement the programmes and projects in the memorandum of understanding signed between the two localities for the 2023-2027 period.

For his part, Sekong Party Secretary Leklai Sivilay said he highly appreciates Da Nang’s significant support for Sekong as well as central and southern Lao provinces.

During the 2018-2022 period, Da Nang provided Sekong with 28 billion VND (1.1 million USD) for projects on human resources training, infrastructure development and social work.
