During a local reception on June 5 for head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Inspection Commission and the Central Anti-Corruption Commission of Laos, and President of the Lao State Inspection Authority Khamphan Phommathat, Nen assured his guest that the municipal Party Organisation, authorities and people in particular always attach great importance and give top priority to consolidating, preserving and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
HCM City also pays heed to promoting deeper and more practical cooperation with Lao localities, he noted.
According to Nen, the city regularly directs Party organs, administration bodies and mass organisations to actively promote economic exchanges, create favourable conditions for businesses to seek investment opportunities, launch trade promotion activities, and introduce local products to each other's markets.
HCM City is also actively fostering tourism and people-to-people exchange, he said, pointing to programmes that facilitate interaction between organisations and agencies, along with support provided for Lao officials and students in the city.
Phommathat, for his part, described the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities as a model of the bilateral special friendship and solidarity at local level. He expressed Laos’ unwavering desire to deepen and strengthen this relationship in the future.
He specifically proposed continued support from the southern economic hub of Vietnam in facilitating the exchange of working delegations to share the best practices in inspection and anti-corruption efforts.
The meeting concluded with discussions on each side’s achievements and challenges in these areas, with both sides looking to learn from each other’s experience.
