According to historical records, the Van Yen communal house (Van Yen area, Viet Hung Ward, Ha Long City) is located in the provincial historical and cultural relic cluster of Van Yen and was built during the Le Trung Hung period and ranked as a provincial relic in 2011.

Since its inception, the communal house has undergone many renovations. The original architecture and many valuable artefacts have not been preserved. However, the Dai Ky Phuc festival at Van Yen communal house has been preserved almost intact by the people for hundreds of years.

Accordingly, to show gratitude to the ancestors and pray for a year of favourable weather, peaceful life, and prosperity, every year, Viet Hung Ward organises the Dai Ky Phuc festival with two main parts: the ceremony and the festival.

The ceremony includes the following rituals: Carrying the palanquin from Van Yen to the communal house; Reading the genealogy of the relic cluster; Beating drums and gongs to open the festival; Offering incense; Worshiping the gods; Carrying the palanquin, bringing the god back to the communal house. The festival activities take place enthusiastically with folk games such as Tug of War, duck catching, and art performances between neighbourhoods.

The festival activities have contributed to preserving a beautiful cultural feature in the community and promoting the image of the historical relic cluster of Van Yen communal house to the local people and tourists both at home and abroad.
