The initiative aims to encourage musical creativity, discover works and stories rooted in everyday life, and reflect the cultural diversity of Viet Nam’s regions, ethnic groups and generations. It also seeks to promote Vietnamese musical heritage, particularly among young people.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Huy Dung said music was a universal language, but Viet Nam needed its own distinctive voice. He called on Vietnamese people to tell their stories through sound, nurture creativity and enrich the country’s musical resources while engaging confidently with the world.

The programme invites participants to explore the sounds that connect them with their memories, communities and homeland, from street vendors’ calls and traditional instruments to folk songs, lullabies, festival music and the sounds of everyday work.

It comprises three activities hosted on the official digital platform. ‘Vietnamese Sound Quiz’ is an online competition testing knowledge of Vietnamese melodies, songs, traditional instruments and musical heritage. ‘Experiencing Vietnamese Sounds’ invites participants to submit short videos sharing personal memories and perspectives on music. ‘Creating Vietnamese Sounds’ encourages original works using music, voices, instruments, folk melodies and everyday sounds, combined with images, video, animation or other digital art forms.

Selected entries may be featured on the official platform and added to the Vietnamese Sound Bank, with information on authorship, copyright and usage conditions.

The programme is open to Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad, as well as foreign nationals interested in Vietnamese culture and music, regardless of age or occupation.

Submissions are open from October 12 to November 30, 2026. Final judging will take place after the closing date, with results and awards expected to be announced in December.
