Nearly 200 artists perform in symphony art programme “Sounds Under the Sunlight”

Two official performance nights of the symphonic art programme “Sounds Under the Sunlight” will take place at Ho Guom Opera House at 8 pm on February 28 and March 1 to celebrate the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

The programme is directed by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, with content guidance from the General Political Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army. It is organised by the Department of Communication and Education and the Military University of Culture and Arts.

The event features renowned artists, including Colonel and musician Ho Trong Tuan as artistic director and general director; and Lieutenant Colonel and musician Do Quoc Bao as music director. The orchestra's conductor are Colonel and People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac and the conductor is Le Phi Phi; and the music director is Lieutenant Colonel and artist Vu Duc Tan.

Following “The Song of Reunification” and “The Everlasting Epic,” the symphonic programme “Sounds Under the Sunlight” marks the official artistic debut of the Military Symphony Orchestra, established under Decision No. 5399/QD-BQP dated October 26, 2025, by the Minister of National Defence. The programme is not only a debut performance before the public and professionals but also affirms the responsibility of artist-soldiers on the cultural and ideological front.

The 105-minute programme comprises three parts, presented in various forms including overture, symphony, symphonic poem, fantasia, symphonic suite, duet scenes from musicals, and mashups.

The first part, titled “The Sunlight Leads the Way,” features timeless works; the second part has the title of “The Star on the Cap – The Flag Colour in the Heart”; and the third part has the title “Sounds of a New Day”.

The programme attracts the participation of nearly 200 military and civilian artists, including Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi, Pham Thu Ha, OPlus Group, flautist Le Thu Huong, Do To Hoa, Xuan Hao, Viet Danh, Minh Hai, Bich Ngoc, Trinh Phuong, Ngo Duc, Mai Chi, and others.

The orchestral arrangements and harmonisations are implemented by prominent composers from both within and outside the military, including Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Mai Kien, Do Bao, Duc Tan, Duc Nghia, Vu Quang Trung, Hong Kien, Cao Xuan Dung, and Cao Dinh Thang. The combination of a professional symphony orchestra and powerful vocalists promises to create a solemn, attractive, and emotionally rich chamber music experience.
