Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Vu Hong Van, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Deputy Delegation of Dong Nai Province, emphasised that the ceremony is an opportunity for the Party Committee, authorities, and people in the province to look back the glorious and brilliant milestones in Vietnam’s history of national building and defence and continue to reaffirm the historical significance, stature, and timeless value of the Great Spring Victory of 1975, especially the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
Among the resounding victories that contributed to the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, Dong Nai witnessed legendary feats, notably the Xuan Loc Battle from April 9 to 21, 1975, which broke the enemy’s so-called “steel gateway”, paving the way for the main forces to advance into Saigon, completely liberated the South and reunified the nation.
After the complete liberation of the South, Dong Nai Province faced immense challenges in overcoming the war consequences, stabilising the people’s lives, and restoring and developing its production.
With high political determination, solidarity of the entire provincial Party Committee throughout the periods and unanimous support of all classes of people, Dong Nai has overcome difficulties, affirmed its position as an important growth driver in the southern region and made important contributions to the country’s overall development.
Today, Dong Nai has become an important centre for industry and services, a major transportation hub, and one of the provinces with the highest growth rates nationwide. The province has consistently prioritised caring for policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances. The people’s material and spiritual living standards have continuously improved. National defence and security have been firmly maintained. Party, mass organisation, and government-building efforts have been continuously strengthened.
Dong Nai is vigorously carrying out administrative reform, building a streamlined, effective, and efficient government apparatus, placing people and businesses at the centre of service.
The province is also focusing on developing interregional transport connections and decisively implementing key socio-economic development projects. It also gives priority to industrial and service development, along with restructuring the agricultural sector towards modernity, ecology and sustainability.
Vu Hong Van, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, stated that the pride of the Great Spring Victory half a century ago, we are more deeply aware of the value of peace and independence, thereby adding motivation and firmly consolidating our belief in the leadership of the Party and the path of socialism building that President Ho Chi Minh and our Party have chosen.
The Party Committee, authorities, armed forces, and people of Dong Nai Province pledged to promote the spirit of solidarity and revolutionary heroism, to constantly innovate and develop, striving for the goal of building a strong, prosperous, and happy Vietnam, and confidently advancing into a new era, the rising era of the nation.
As part of the programme, an exchange and tribute session was held to honour Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, veteran revolutionary cadres, former provincial leaders across generations, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and individuals who fought and supported the fight for the liberation of the South and national reunification, who are currently residing in the province.
