The event attracted over 1,000 students.
The six-day exhibition has been organised to introduce the university’s staff and students to over 70 valuable photos, documents and artifacts that demonstrate Vietnam’s indisputable sovereignty over the nation’s sacred archipelago.
Displayed are ancient Vietnamese books which show that the Paracel Archipelago has been proclaimed as Vietnam’s territory through the generations, There are also maps, atlases and materials from many countries, including China, which show that Hainan Island is China’s southernmost territory.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) district People’s Committee Dang Cong Ngu affirmed Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelago and stressed the importance of the exhibition in communicating with younger generations about the nation’s sacred sovereignty over the archipelago and in honouring soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation’s sovereignty over its seas and islands.
On this occasion, Da Nang University of Technology granted VND50 million (US$2,350) to a programme launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to pay tribute to soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for national sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos.
The exhibition is the third of this type held at Da Nang colleges and universities since the beginning of the year to educate students about the legal evidence of national sovereignty over seas and islands.
