Fireworks to light up Ho Chi Minh City’s sky to mark reunification

Fireworks are scheduled to be set off above Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of April 30 to mark the 44th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.

Pyrotechnic shows will take place from 9-9:15pm at three locations: the Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2, the Landmark 81 building in Binh Thanh district and the Dam Sen Park in District 11.

A wide range of other activities have also been held on the occasion, including a running contest at Le Duan Street, boat racing on the Rach Dia Canal, an orchid festival at the Tao Dan Park and a bicycle race.

Several streets, including Nguyen Tat Thanh, Ton Duc Thang, Dong Khoi, Hai Trieu and Ham Nghi, will be closed from 8:30-9:30pm for the fireworks.

A section of Nguyen Hue Street from Le Thanh Ton to Ton Duc Thang Streets will also be restricted to pedestrians only from 7-9:30.
