Northern mountainous region photo festival held in Dien Bien

The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and the Literary and Arts Association of Dien Bien Province jointly held the opening ceremony of the 23rd Photography Festival of the Northern Mountainous Provinces 2024 in Dien Bien Phu City on April 27.

Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literary and Arts Associations and President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, said that this year's Photography Festival of the Northern Mountainous Provinces was held in Dien Bien as an activity to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The event affirms the great meaning and creative inspiration of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in literature and arts, including photography.

The 23rd Photography Festival of the Northern Mountainous Provinces 2024 received more than 2,200 works, including series and single photos from more than 300 participating authors in the region.

The jury selected 137 works by 97 photographers for exhibition and nominated 20 works for awards.

At the opening ceremony, the organising board awarded the "For the development of Vietnamese photography" medal to individuals.

They also presented souvenir flags to provinces participating in the festival and awarded two gold medals, four silver medals, six bronze medals, and eight consolation prizes to the most excellent works participating in the festival.

The Organising Committee also presented gifts and gratitude to Dien Bien soldiers and presented the flag to host the 24th festival to Cao Bang Province.
