Reporting to General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu Duy Long said the embassy regularly coordinates diplomatic activities, promotes bilateral ties and supports the Vietnamese community. A key priority is to translate the Viet Nam-Algeria Strategic Partnership framework into concrete actions and work with Algerian authorities to implement agreements reached between the two countries.
The ambassador noted the strong affection and respect that generations of Algerian leaders and people have shown towards Viet Nam, including admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap and for Viet Nam’s struggle for national independence. Building on this foundation, the embassy is working to develop an action programme for the Strategic Partnership and promote practical cooperation through specific projects.
General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his appreciation for the embassy’s efforts to preserve and develop the traditional friendship between the two countries. He stressed that the visit aims to further strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Algeria and between their armed forces.
He called on the embassy to proactively implement the Party’s foreign policy, strengthen trust and cooperation with Algeria, and help create a peaceful and stable environment for national development. Diplomatic activities should also open up new opportunities for cooperation and mobilise resources for development, while enhancing Viet Nam’s prestige and position internationally.
He also asked the embassy to pay greater attention to Vietnamese nationals in Algeria, describing overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the Vietnamese community and an important resource for national development.
On the occasion, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to children at the embassy.
