General Phan Van Giang pays respect to late leaders of the Party, State, and Army

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of National Defence, on April 30 visited the families of late leaders of the Party, State, and Army on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

General Phan Van Giang offered flowers and incense in remembrance of late Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former Head of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army; late President Le Duc Anh, former Minister of Defence; late Politburo members and former Ministers of Defence: General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Van Tien Dung, and General Phung Quang Thanh; as well as late Chiefs of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and former Deputy Ministers of Defence: General Le Trong Tan and General Hoang Van Thai.

During the commemorations, General Phan Van Giang expressed profound gratitude for the immense contributions of these late leaders to the revolutionary cause of the Party and nation, and to the building of the Army and national defence.

He emphasised that their achievements contributed to the nation’s heroic victories, particularly the triumph of the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975, serving as an enduring example for younger generations to study and follow.

The same day, General Phan Van Giang also visited Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, extending wishes for his good health and longevity.
