Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted receives Independence Order

The Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted was presented with the Independence Order, second class on December 26 in recognition of its outstanding achievements in the past 30 years.

The Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted was established in 1985 as a gift from the Amsterdam people for Hanoi and a symbol of international solidarity.

The school has the task of training excellent students from Hanoi and the nation. In the past five years, the school has had about 1,800 students recognised as outstanding students of Hanoi and nearly 400 students recognised as outstanding students of the nation in addition to winning hundreds of international prizes and medals in international academic competitions.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, on behalf of the Party and State, presented the Independence Order, second class to the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Rector of the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted Le Thi Oanh called on her students to uphold the traditions of the school in the past 30 years to become good students and good citizens, contributing to raising the position of Vietnam in the international arena.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Hanoi municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that the city authorities always pay much attention to the education sector and have invested more than VND400 billion (US$17.6 million) in relocating the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School.

The school should continue to carry out comprehensive innovations as the nation's leading high school for the gifted and training centre for the talent of the capital city and the nation, Chung added.
