Hanoi commends 759 outstanding students in 2022-2023 academic year

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony on May 24 to honour 759 excellent students representing the nearly 2.2 million Hanoi students in the 2022-2023 school year.

President Vo Van Thuong and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son sent flowers to the ceremony tocongratulate the Hanoi students.

Hanoi students reaped many achievements in the 2022-2023 academic year, with eight students winning international Olympiad prizes and 141 students gaining prizes in national contests.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Nguyen Quang Tuan said that the Hanoi education sector has made great efforts to successfully complete their tasks in the 2022-2023 academic year. The scale of education has grown strongly with 2,840 schools, nearly 2.2 million students, and approximately 123,000 teachers.

The facilities and IT equipment serving teaching and learning at schools continue to be improved in a synchronous and modern manner. As of April 2023, 72.4% of the city’s public schools meet the set standards, Tuan noted.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do recognised and praised the proud results that Hanoi teachers and students have achieved in the 2022 - 2023 school year.

He asked the Hanoi education sector to continue to renovate the general education programme, increase the size of schools, reduce pressure in enrolment, and promote career guidance for students.
