Japanese language education is one of the priority fields under JICA’s Volunteer Programme. Currently, JICA has deployed 10 volunteers specialising in Japanese language education to work in Viet Nam.

JICA’s Volunteer Programme in Viet Nam began in 1995 and marks its 30th anniversary this year. The first three volunteers dispatched were involved in Japanese language teaching at Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi; Foreign Trade University; and the Ha Noi University of Foreign Studies. Over the past 30 years, JICA has dispatched more than 750 volunteers to Viet Nam, contributing to socio-economic development at the grassroots level.
The areas in which JICA volunteers have been active are diverse, ranging from Japanese language teaching, healthcare, rehabilitation, local development, and tourism to supporting children and people with disabilities.
