In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh emphasised that Vietnamese language is not only a practical communication tool but also an important link between the past and present, and connecting the homeland with overseas community. He stated that this Vietnamese class embodies the government's commitment to supporting the Vietnamese diaspora in preserving their mother tongue and traditional culture, while strengthening their ties with the homeland.
Notably, the class is a direct implementation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s directive, given during his meeting with the Vietnamese community in Tianjin, China on June 25, 2025, in which he called for the organisation of Vietnamese language classes for overseas Vietnamese and citizens living in China.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh noted that preserving and nurturing the Vietnamese language means preserving a part of the Vietnamese soul and a profound expression of love for one’s roots.
He stressed that the class not only helps overseas Vietnamese improve their language skills for work and daily life but also serves as a shared home where people can meet, connect, and together look toward the homeland. Each lesson is an opportunity to better understand the beauty of the Vietnamese language and to feel a deeper sense of pride in the nation.
Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh called on teachers to bring inspiration, enthusiasm, and creative, to use effective teaching methods tailored to overseas learners. “Beyond teaching language, the class will help students feel the culture and the emotional ties to their homeland through every lesson,” he said. “The dedication of the teachers is the key to the success of the class.”

First Secretary in charge of education at the Vietnamese Embassy in China Hoang Mai Dien said that the opening of the Vietnamese class aims to further promote practical and effective Vietnamese teaching for the overseas community and Vietnamese citizens in China. The course helps preserve and develop the Vietnamese language and cultural identity, fosters a strong connection to the homeland, and contributes to promoting the Vietnamese language and culture in China.

The 2025 online Vietnamese language course for overseas Vietnamese and citizens in China will include 30 lessons, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes, with two sessions held per week.

Currently, there are 59 students from various regions across China - including Beijing, Shandong, Shanghai, Nanning, and Chongqing - divided into two classes: one for learners with prior knowledge of Vietnamese and one for beginners.
Each class will be led by four to five teachers with university-level or higher qualifications, including many volunteers holding master’s and doctoral degrees.
