“Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City” features unique cultural features of capital city

Through "Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City," the organisers hope to promote the significant meaning of the Capital’s Liberation, highlighting the 70 years of construction and development of the capital in the process of building and defending the nation.

This event is also an opportunity for Hanoi to showcase and introduce the unique cultural features and heritage of the thousand-year-old civilised capital; the elegant and civilised people of the capital; and Hanoi - the City of Peace, and the City of Creativity.

In her opening remarks, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasised that “Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City” is an opportunity for the two cities to reflect on the nation's heroic history, meet, share, and promote the unique culture, potential, and people of each locality, to the public and tourists.

The activities within the programme will deepen the strong bond between the two localities, strengthen comprehensive cooperation across all fields, and contribute to maximising the potential and strengths of both cities, affirming their role as the two leading economic centres.

Specifically, during the three-day event, the organisers will present meaningful and unique activities to the people of Ho Chi Minh City, neighbouring provinces, and visitors. The opening ceremony will feature an artistic programme themed "Hanoi's Shining Mark," including impressive dance and music performances on stage, inspired by the Hanoi Flag Tower, a significant historical monument and one of the symbols of the capital.

Additionally, activities will include visits and gift-giving to 70 policy families and notable contributors.

Moreover, the organisers will host exhibitions, including a display of documentary photos commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation; an exhibition titled "Thang Long Imperial Citadel - Hanoi - Heritage for the Future"; an exhibition of paintings, photos, and documents about the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) National Special Relic Site; and exhibitions showcasing the essence of Vietnamese Confucianism.

Hanoi will also organise activities to promote and introduce products while boosting tourism collaboration between the capital and Ho Chi Minh City. Other events include the "Young Melodies" art exchange programme and sports exchanges.

Singers Tung Duong and Dao To Loan perform the song "Nguoi Ha Noi" (Hanoians) (composed by Nguyen Dinh Thi) and "Tien Ve Ha Noi" (Heading to Hanoi) (composed by Van Cao).

The artistic programme highlighted the resilience and indomitable spirit of the people of Hanoi during the fierce resistance against the French. Additionally, the beauty of Hanoi and its people will be portrayed on stage, recreated through the evocative "Pho Phai" paintings.

The programme will combine orchestra-chorus performances, dance, and scenic arts to artistically highlight the historical and cultural values of Hanoi, offering an overview of the capital of Hanoi.

Singers Ho Trung Dung and Dao Mac perform the songs "Gui Nang Cho Em" (Sending you sunshine) with music by Pham Tuyen and poetry by To Huu) and "Mua xuan tren thanh pho Ho Chi Minh (Spring in Ho Chi Minh City) by Xuan Hong.

The programme, featuring artists from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, brings together a diverse mix of artists from both regions including Meritorious Artist Le Thien, Hong Nhung, Tung Duong, MTV Band, Dao Mac, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Vu Thang Loi, Ho Trung Dung, Dao To Loan, Dong Hung, Quach Mai Thy, model group Xuan Lan, Designer Duc Hung; Hong Kien Band - Symphony Orchestra; Mai Trang Dance Group, and Children's Club.

At the opening ceremony, the audiences in Ho Chi Minh City enjoyed a documentary film introducing the capital, providing a deep insight into the tradition and development of Hanoi. The cultural space of the capital city was evoked through the symbol of the traditional market, recreated through stalls displaying handicrafts, traditional cuisine, and engaging cultural exchange activities.

"Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City" will continue until the end of August 25.
