The rating is based on the average cost of three night’s accommodation for two at a four-star hotel from June to August, inclusive of a three-destination tour in the city, lunch, dinner and return taxi fares over a two-mile route.

The website said that a three-day trip to Hanoi costs about US$721 with year round stable hotel prices, delicious food - especially the street food - and many relics and beautiful sites.

From Southeast Asia, Bangkok, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Manila, Philippines ranked fourth, seventh and ninth on the list, respectively.

The results were from a survey of the 40 cities which receive the largest numbers of international visitors from June 1 to August 31.
