The project is the part of the capital city’s digital transformation and smart city building programme.

The system features 12 different functions, including traffic monitoring traffic, traffic information provision, and management of public transport, parking, accidents and road infrastructure, among others.

As part of the project, through joint development by the DOT and Viettel, cameras have been installed at two busy intersections to monitor traffic and vehicle speeds.

According to DOT Director Nguyen Phi Thuong, the launch of the smart traffic management centre has laid the core foundation for the formation of a smart traffic system in Hanoi.

In the first stage, from 2024-2026, the centre will operate with 9 out of 12 functions. All 12 functions will be fully operational in the next phase, from 2027-2029.
