Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thua Thien Hue Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong said the organisers have designed many open programmes, street festivals, and community stages for art troupes to perform on for the public.

In addition, some localities in the province also organised many cultural and arts programmes in which local residents and visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere, sounds and lights of the festival.

For his part, Le Hoai Trung, head of the Central Commission for External Relations, stated that Hue Festival has become an occasion for promoting cooperation and friendship while building a peaceful and prosperous world on a multicultural basis.

A highlight of the opening ceremony was a performance with the participation of more than 300 actors from domestic and international arts troupes.
