“Colors of Vietnamese ethnic culture” at Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism

In April, the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will host an array of activities with the theme of “Colors of Vietnamese ethnic culture”.

The April activities will be attended by over 100 people from 16 ethnic groups, including village elders, village chiefs, artisans, and ethnic people of Tay, Nung (Thai Nguyen); Dao (Hanoi); Mong (Ha Giang); Muong (Hoa Binh); Lao, Thai, Kho Mu (Son La); Ta Oi, Co Tu (Hue City); Xo Dang (Kon Tum); Ba Na, Gia Rai (Gia Lai); Raglai (Ninh Thuan); Ede (Dak Lak); and Khmer (Soc Trang).

In addition, 25 Xinh Mun ethnic people in the northern mountainous province of Son La; about 40 Ha Nhi and Mong ethnic people in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau and about 25 Tay and Nung ethnic people in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang were mobilised to participate in the event on weekends and holidays.

The April activities include a recreation of the Highland Market with the theme “Highland rendezvous”, introducing over 100 photos of Lai Chau’s tourism culture; the “Colours of the Market” program, performing and experiencing the Khen dance, introducing and performing the rice cake pounding; and the art of beeswax printing of the Mong ethnic group in Lai Chau.

Visitors also have the opportunity to experience some reenacted festivals such as the Gau Tao Festival of the Mong ethnic group in Lai Chau, the Mang Ma Festival of the Xinh Mun ethnic group in Son La, the Rainy Festival of the Ha Nhi ethnic group in Lai Chau, and the village ghost worship ritual of the Kho Mu ethnic group in Son La.

On the sideline, some local cultural and tourism spaces are also introduced to visitors, such as the culture of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Cao Bang, the Then singing and Tinh lute cultural space of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups, and the folk song and dance program themed “Proud of the descendants of the Dragon and Fairy” at the “Common House.”

In particular, this month’s highlight is displaying and introducing tourism in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh with photo exhibitions, display spaces, and introducing tourism products.
