The event, co-organised by the University of Science under the Hanoi National University and the Hanoi National University of Education, will run through July 29.

Students will sit for practical and theoretical tests on July 23 and 25, respectively. The closing ceremony is scheduled for July 28.

Host Vietnam sends four students to the contest, namely Pham Ngan Giang and Pham Mai Phuong from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Do Viet Hung from Tran Phu Gifted High School in northern Hai Phong city, and Doan Quoc Hoai Nam from the Quoc Hoc-Hue High School for the Gifted in central Thua Thien – Hue province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Bui Duy Cam, head of ICHO46 organising board said that the event offered an opportunity for students from 77 countries and territories around the world to demonstrate their innovative capacity in chemistry. At the same time, it was a good chance to exchange and share experiences in the field of education, as well as strengthening friendship relations between nations.

Last year, Vietnamese high school students bagged one gold and three silvers at the event held in Moscow, Russia.
