International Muay Thai championship to be held in Vietnam

This information was announced by the MTGP, VTVcab and the Ho Chi Minh City Muay Thai Federation at a press conference in November 23.

The 2023 MTGP Vietnam Championship is the first tournament to be organised by the Muay Thai Grand Prix (MTGP) in Vietnam, featuring top Vietnamese and international Muay Thai fighters.

The sport event is expected to attract the participation of 26 Vietnamese and international boxers, including famous boxers Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, Truong Cao Minh Phat and Huynh Ha Huu Hieu.

As planned, the semi-finals will take place on February 11, 2023, and the final will be held on March 18, 2023, at Phu Tho Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City).

At the 2023 MTGP Vietnam Championship, fighters will compete in 12 weight classes, including nine semi-professional weight classes and three professional weight categories.

The entire Vietnam Championship 2023 event will be produced and broadcast by a VTVcab unit on infrastructure including TV channels, OTT applications and social networks based on the cooperation between VTVcab and MTGP.

The MTGP is the organiser of professional events for Muay Thai, a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques, at the highest level in the world.

Over the past 10 years, the MTGP has organised more than 50 live events in 15 countries, creating development opportunities for many Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA (mixed martial arts) talents, according to its website.
