Vietnam welcomes Lunar New Year 2022

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc extends Lunar New Year greetings on February 1.

A wide variety of activities were held around the country to welcome Lunar New Year 2022 – the Year of Tiger.

On New Year’s Eve, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his best wishes to all Vietnamese people, both throughout the country and abroad.

On the occasion of traditional Lunar New Year, Party and State leaders offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, late kings and talented persons who had made contributions to the nation.

Party’s founding anniversary marked

The entire Party, people and armed forces joyfully observe the 92nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930-2022).

Various activities were held around the country to mark the Party’s anniversary.

The foreign Parties, including The Central Committees of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), as well as many international experts sent their greetings to the CPV.

Industrial production index up 2.4 percent in January

Vietnam’s industrial production index (IPI) in January rose by 2.4 percent year-on-year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

The processing and manufacturing industry, which accounted for over 70 percent of total industrial output, witnessed a yearly IPI increase of 2.8 percent, contributing 2.6 percentage points to the industrial sector’s overall growth.

UNDP announces 2022-2026 Country Programme Document for Vietnam

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has approved the Country Programme Document for Vietnam for the 2022-2026 period and a financial package worth over 120 million USD.

The UNDP’s programme aims to help the Vietnamese Government accelerate the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, guided by the UNDP Strategic Plan’s three outcomes, namely shared prosperity through sustainable economic transformation; climate change, disaster resilience and environmental sustainability; governance and access to justice.

Vietnam secures first-ever Women’s World Cup berth

Vietnam booked their inaugural place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday after edging past Chinese Taipei 2-1 to win the playoff round with three points clear.

Chuong Thi Kieu opened the scoring for Vietnam early in the first half before Su Yu-hsuan restored parity a few minutes after halftime.

Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy scored the winner four minutes before the hour mark to send the Vietnamese side through to the World Cup for the first time in history.

Vietnam thrashes China 3-1 for first win in final round of World Cup Qualifiers

Vietnamese football fans received a fantastic gift on the first day of the Year of the Tiger as the Golden Star Warriors thumped neighbours China 3-1 in a Group B match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian Qualifiers on February 1.

Vietnam scored twice before halftime and adding another in the second half to grab their first points in the final round of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

China’s efforts in the remainder of the match only brought them a consolation goal in stoppage time thanks to Xu Xin’s close-range attempt.
