This is the potential and strength to exploit high-quality tourism types, such as eco-tourism, resorts, forest ecosystem experiences, cultural-historical tourism, and agritourism, to promote green and sustainable tourism development.
Many experts believe that, in the context of strong tourism development, the value of historical, cultural and natural relics plays an increasingly important role in building a high-quality and sustainable tourism industry.
Cultural and natural values
On the journey of construction and development, Da Lat-Lam Dong has become an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists. This land is a combination of beautiful mountain and forest landscapes, with many diverse historical-cultural and natural heritages that create a unique travel experience. This is also the convergence of many unique traditional festivals of 47 ethnic groups such as Kinh, Co Ho, Ma, Chu Ru, Mnong, Tay, Nung, Thai, and H'Mong.
According to Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thanh Hoai, this southern region of the Central Highlands also owns three world cultural heritage sites registered by UNESCO, including the cultural space of gongs in the Central Highlands, the woodblocks made during the Nguyen Dynasty, and the Langbiang Biosphere Reserve. Da Lat City has been recognised as a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
“With these rich tourism and humanistic potentials, Lam Dong has become one of the famous tourist centres in the country and the region and will be an attractive destination on the world tourism map in the future ", Hoai expected.
During a recent field trip to promote commercial activities at Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, John Park, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Businessmen and Investment Association, expressed his impression of the natural landscape of Bidoup-Nui Ba.
Determining that high-quality tourism and green and sustainable tourism are important trends in the current and future global tourism industry, recently, Lam Dong province has focused on effectively implementing the work of repairing and upgrading historical-cultural relics and scenic spots in the area.
“Every year, the province assigns relevant departments, branches and localities to effectively implement the programme on preserving and promoting the value of intangible and tangible cultural heritage; At the same time, exploit the value of biodiversity and forest resources and natural landscapes to serve high-quality tourism," Dr Pham S, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said.
Solutions to promote high-quality tourism development
With increasingly improved investment policies to create favourable conditions to attract investment resources into Lam Dong tourism, the province currently has 120 investment projects in the tourism sector, with a total capital of more than 47,800 billion VND and an area of more than 10,500 hectares; Of which 114 investment projects are domestic capital, the rest are foreign capital.
To date, 40 projects have been fully completed, 37 projects have been partially completed and put into operation, 27 projects are under construction, and 16 projects are undergoing investment preparation procedures.
To position the value of cultural heritage and natural heritage to develop high-quality tourism and green tourism at the national and international level, Dr Pham S suggested that Lam Dong tourism needs to continue to thoroughly understand and drastically and synchronously deploy Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU, of the Provincial Party Committee on developing high-quality tourism to 2025, with a vision to 2030, in Lam Dong province.
In particular, with a strong transformation in the tourism industry from quantity to high quality, from low-spending to high-spending tourism, it is necessary to have deeper connections between domestic regions and countries and improve the investment environment to attract large-scale tourism projects.
At the same time, the province must have a solution to attract synchronous investment in cultural industry projects in which Lam Dong has many advantages but has not been exploited to its full potential in recent times.
Dr Nguyen Thi Hang, Academy of Politics Region II, said that the success factor of tourism in other countries, as well as in Vietnam, is thanks to the effective exploitation of the unique values of historical relics, national culture and natural landscapes.
Positive change to achieve economic goals, but still must ensure the local cultural-social and landscape-ecological-environmental factors, the core value in the tourism development of Lam Dong in the near future.
It is necessary to digitise different forms of heritage to create platforms to introduce Lam Dong tourism products, attract visitors from afar and spread cultural and natural values to domestic and foreign tourists. It is also necessary to promote the strength of the community to develop tourism, share tourism benefits with the community and take advantage of their creativity to promote destinations for Lam Dong tourism.
In the Lam Dong Provincial Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, just approved by the Prime Minister, there is the orientation: Developing tourism to become a key economic sector associated with preserving and promoting the value of ethnic cultural heritage, natural resources and regional linkages, tourism is identified as an important development sector.
The goal is that by 2030, Lam Dong will become a "green paradise" with the attraction of leading resorts, ecological, health care, and high-end sports tourism centres in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
To successfully achieve that goal, Lam Dong must synchronously implement solutions in the tourism development strategy. In particular, by protecting, investing in upgrading and properly exploiting cultural and natural heritage, Da Lat-Lam Dong tourism will increasingly position its brand on the regional and international tourism map.
