23rd Vietnam Film Festival opens in Lam Dong Province

The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival kicked off in Da Lat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on November 21 in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that since the 22nd edition, Vietnamese cinema has made remarkable development steps, affirming the professionalism and innovation efforts of managers and artists.

Cinema has made an important contribution to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, culture and tourism to international friends, he stressed.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham S expressed his belief that the film festival will offer an opportunity to promote and introduce the culture, people, and landscapes of Lam Dong to a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.

Themed ‘Developing the Vietnamese film industry imbued within national identity, modern and humane”, the three-day festival is jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee.

It aims to honour outstanding cinematic artists who have made significant contributions to the development of the Vietnamese film market and cinema industry.

This year’s event attracted a total of 177 entries, including 29 feature films, 82 documentaries, 23 science films, and 43 animated films.
