Ninety-one films to be featured at 23rd Vietnam Film Festival

A total of 91 films will be featured at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, which will take place in Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province from November 21 to 25.

This was announced at a press conference held in Hanoi on December 30 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee.

According to the organisers, the films, which were sorted out from nearly 180 entries, include 16 feature films, 31 documentaries, 19 science films, and 25 animated films.

The films will be screened at Cinestar cinema chains in Da Lat City and Duc Trong district, as well as several outdoor screenings at Da Lat Army Academy, Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City and the districts of Lac Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha and Dam Rong.

Themed ‘Developing the Vietnamese film industry imbued within national identity, modern and humane”, the 23rd Film Festival aims to promote the development of the Vietnamese film market, towards successfully building a vibrant cinema industry.

The opening, closing and award ceremonies of the film festival will take place at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City, and they will be broadcast live on Lam Dong Provincial Television Channel.

An exhibition entitled ‘Da Lat – An Inspiration for Cinematography’, and two seminars on copyright protection and other key issues in Vietnam’s film industry, are also scheduled within the framework of the festival.

In addition, a film week in response to the festival will be held in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City this November.
