This is the first time the biennial festival is being held in Da Lat City. It aims to honour cinematographic works and artists across various cinematographic activities.
Taking place in Da Lat, the film festival will be a practical activity celebrating the 130th founding anniversary of Da Lat City and promoting the culture, people and landscapes of Lam Dong Province as well as commemorating the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s signing of the Ordinance establishing Vietnamese cinema industry.
The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival will have the slogan “Developing the Vietnamese film industry, rich in national identity, modern and humane”, promoting the development of arts and the film market, towards building successfully a vibrant cinema industry.
Accordingly, any cinematic works with humanity and imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity will be honoured.
The entries submitted to the festival must be Vietnamese-language films produced by Vietnamese cinema establishments or in cooperation with foreign organisations and individuals, without copyright disputes.
Feature films must have a duration of 70 minutes or more; meanwhile, documentaries, science films and cartoons must be no more than 100 minutes in length. The Cinema Department must receive the film’s registration to attend the film festival by September 5.
The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival was held in the ancient city of Hue in 2021.
