The 10 localities are Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, and Vinh Phuc.
The athletes will vie for medals across 43 sports. Several events have already begun, including karate, rowing, shooting, and football.
The opening ceremony of the Games will take place on December 9 at Sun Carnival Square in Ha Long City.
Speaking at the press conference held in Hanoi on November 28, Dang Ha Viet, General Director in charge of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, said that this year’s National Sports Games mark the first time the event has been organised on such a large scale in 11 provinces and cities, he noted.
He stressed that the Games, which are held every four years, aim to review the national sports movement and discover new talents to participate in Vietnamese sports teams at international events, with upcoming events including the 2023 SEA Games and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
