Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement while attending a ceremony held by the K Hospital in Hanoi on July 18 to celebrate its 50th founding anniversary (1969-2019) and receive the third-class Labour Order.
On behalf of the Party’s and State’s leaders, PM Phuc presented the third-class Labour Order to the hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Phuc expressed his pleasure at the K Hospital’s development, particularly the successful application of advanced scientific and technical achievements, improving effective treatment and prolonging life for many patients.
The hospital has actively consulted, built and completed many hospitals and oncology departments in many provinces and cities, forming a national cancer prevention and control network, he added.
K Hospital should continue to uphold its pioneer role to become a leading tumour centre in the region and a trustworthy destination for not only patients but also international colleagues and friends, said the Government leader.
He asked the hospital to intensify the scientific research, training and direction, especially the technical transfer to its satellite and lower-level hospitals.
The PM also noted that it is essential to enhance international cooperation to take advantage of the support and learn from the experience of advanced countries in studying cancer treatment and training doctors, particularly with French institutes.
After its self-autonomy is project approved, the K Hospital should boost the mobilisation of the contributions from both domestic and foreign organisations and individuals to the development of modern equipment and high-quality human resources, he noted.
PM Phuc also emphasised the guarantee of the rights for patients with health insurance cards and beneficiaries as well as the mobilisation of all resources to support cancer patients who are living in difficult circumstances.
The K Hospital now has three branches with modern equipment and 2,400 beds, on par with those of advanced countries in the region and the world.
