National 'ngo' boat racing championship wraps up

Nhan Dan – The 2011 National ‘Ngo’ Boat Racing Championship concluded on August 20 after two days of competition in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.

Kien Giang took first place in the women’s 600m and 1,000m team races, while Bac Lieu and Hau Giang ranked second and third respectively in both events.

In the men’s 800m event, the Giong Rieng team from Kien Giang won the first prize. Soc Trang took second while Tra Vinh and the Go Quao team from Kien Giang shared third place.

Tra Vinh came in first in the men’s 1,200m event, followed by the Giong Rieng team from Kien Giang. Third prize went to both Soc Trang and the Go Quao team from Kien Giang.

The two-day competition, co-organised by the National Sports Administration and the Hau Giang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, drew the participation of three women's and seven men's teams from five Mekong Delta provinces including Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Tra Vinh and hosts Hau Giang.
