The harmonious combination of tradition and innovation has become a vital foundation enabling the newspaper to strengthen its position in the hearts of readers, affirming the enduring value of the Party newspaper and its readiness to accompany the nation into a new era.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper (March 11, 1951-2026), we would like to introduce several heartfelt comments from readers who have offered their assessments, suggestions and encouragement for Nhan Dan on its responsible and glorious journey.

Always steadfast with its “steel-like” character

Journalist Ha Dang - Former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper

Since its establishment, Nhan Dan Newspaper has always been the official organ of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the voice of the Party, the State and the people of Viet Nam. In every historical circumstance, the newspaper has remained steadfast in its mission to provide accurate information. Its editorials frequently express the Party’s viewpoints, stance and political orientation on major national issues, serving as important messages that guide public opinion and faithfully reflect real life.

Alongside this is a long-standing tradition of serious and professional journalism. Generations of Nhan Dan journalists have consistently attached great importance to accuracy, social responsibility and political integrity in every piece of work. These values have created the newspaper’s prestige and special standing among readers for many years.

Over 75 years of development, Nhan Dan has demonstrated that while a newspaper may innovate boldly in format, technology and methods of communication, its core values - mission, purpose, social responsibility and dedication to serving the people - must always remain steadfast.

Associate Professor, Dr Bui Hoai Son - Standing Member of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education

Over the past 75 years, Nhan Dan Newspaper has not merely been a source of information but a political-communication institution with a distinctive role in “translating” Party guidelines into social awareness and “transforming” policies into civic action. It has achieved something important: bringing resolutions, laws and major national programmes to voters in a manner that is both standardised and persuasive, while fostering consensus.

In the fields of culture and education, Nhan Dan not only reflects developments but also contributes to shaping fundamental value systems: respect for knowledge, the promotion of character, the protection of beauty, encouragement of creativity and affirmation of culture as an endogenous force for development.

When journalism addresses cultural and educational issues at the right scale, in the right context and with a spirit of service, it also accompanies the National Assembly in policy-making by fostering a healthy public opinion environment, strengthening trust and inspiring social responsibility. In other words, Nhan Dan helps bring the Party’s will into harmony with the people’s aspirations through the pathway of culture and information.

In the digital era, the “steel-like” character of Nhan Dan should not be understood as rigidity but as political steadfastness combined with modern persuasive capacity: firm in values, precise in facts and refined in expression. In confronting false narratives, particularly on the cultural and ideological front, the greatest danger lies not only in distortion but also in the erosion of trust through half-truths, through the mocking of symbols and the distortion of standards of beauty and goodness. Thus, the “steel-like” quality lies first in maintaining a firm value axis: national independence, patriotism, humanism, communal ethics and faith in the country’s development path.

“Steel” must also be tempered in digital practice. Nhan Dan needs to refute falsehoods with deeply grounded facts, culturally reasoned arguments and media products capable of competing effectively in the new information space - fast but not hasty, sharp but not extreme, strong but not rigid.

I have always believed that on the cultural and ideological front, lasting victory does not come from shouting louder but from creating standards: standards of language, decency, knowledge and civic responsibility. When Nhan Dan maintains precise political commentary while telling Viet Nam’s story in an engaging, emotional and rational way, that itself becomes the “steel” of the digital age: safeguarding the ideological foundation through the power of persuasion and culture.

Major General, Associate Professor, Dr Nguyen Van Sau - Deputy Director of the Viet Nam Institute for Defence Strategy and Military History:

Throughout its 75-year history, Nhan Dan Newspaper has played a particularly important role in safeguarding historical truth - the spiritual and legal foundation of national sovereignty. Through specialised features, research materials, scholarly opinions and systematically published documents, the newspaper has helped affirm Viet Nam’s consistent stance on territorial and maritime issues.

More importantly, accurate and verified information enables the public to understand the true nature of issues and avoid being misled by fake news or distorted narratives. With strong political conviction, fighting spirit and high social responsibility, Nhan Dan not only reflects history but also actively participates in preserving and defending historical truth - a fundamental factor in safeguarding national sovereignty in every era.

Actively rebutting false and distorted claims is an inevitable requirement of revolutionary journalism and a political-legal action of strategic significance in protecting the Party’s ideological foundation and the nation’s interests. What deserves recognition is that Nhan Dan’s rebuttals are not based on emotion but grounded in theoretical, legal and practical foundations.

Each article not only seeks to refute a specific misguided viewpoint but also strengthens public confidence in policies and guidelines, thereby creating a strong information shield on today’s ideological front and enhancing society’s immunity against negative external influences.

Innovating to keep pace with modern times

Associate Professor, Dr Bui Chi Trung - Deputy Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Viet Nam National University - Ha Noi

Recently, Nhan Dan Newspaper has created an unprecedented cultural phenomenon as thousands of young people queued for days at its headquarters in Ha Noi and at representative offices across the country to receive special printed supplements.

This was not merely a creative “touchpoint” or a momentary curiosity, but evidence of a deep desire among young audiences: they wish to hold in their hands a physical artefact, a cultural item imbued with the imprint of time in a world where virtual life increasingly dominates. The printed Nhan Dan newspaper has now become a highly collectible product, achieving notable completeness in both content and aesthetics.

At Nhan Dan, technology is positioned properly as a “bridge of perception”. The use of new interactive spaces, such as virtual technologies allowing readers to experience President Ho Chi Minh’s voice directly or relive historical memories through technology in special editions, has turned the newspaper into a connecting space between present and past, between young people and core historical values.

The image of the Party journalist should evolve from a mere “recorder of history” into an “architect of content”. The modern journalist must not only observe reality but also possess the language of content design, transforming information into data power through technological experience and creative thinking. They must combine sharp political thinking with technological knowledge and the soul of an aesthete to produce vibrant and competitive media products.

Nhan Dan’s special supplements, such as those commemorating the Dien Bien Phu Victory and especially the birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, possess immense documentary value in both historical and cultural terms. They serve as sources reflecting each stage of the country’s development and provide profound lessons in revolutionary ethics.

Over the years, both the content and presentation of Nhan Dan have evolved positively, applying appropriate technologies and creating the contemporary imprint of the Party newspaper. Today, issues of Nhan Dan resemble “paper milestones”, helping preserve historical memory in an authentic, systematic and profound manner.

In recent years, the Ca Mau Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed libraries to collect printed newspapers, focusing on preservation, digitisation and exhibition, particularly the display of special issues and creative supplements marking major national events, enabling readers to access valuable materials conveniently and sustainably.

Directly seeing and touching old newspaper pages helps younger generations experience and understand history more vividly than simply reading excerpts online. In this way, connections are formed between past and present, between earlier generations and today’s youth, fostering civic awareness, patriotism and social responsibility.

Special publications, interactive pages and megastories or longform articles from Nhan Dan now present a modern “interface” that attracts young readers. The design space is digitised, using data storytelling and striking graphics. The sharpness of the presentation truly captivates young audiences like us and creates a powerful appeal. My own passion for collecting Nhan Dan’s special publications also stems from that attraction.

Notably, 2025 was a year when the nation commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, as well as the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. During those historic days, I had the honour of participating in teams responsible for providing medical support at the grand celebration sites. In that sacred and solemn atmosphere, I held in my hands the special supplements of Nhan Dan.

It is impossible to forget the overwhelming feeling of unfolding a large printed spread that recreated the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign or the 80-year journey of national construction. Amid the busy rhythms of work, contemplating the vivid illustrations became an invaluable moment of quiet reflection for a young person like me.

The friendliness and inspirational value of Nhan Dan are also conveyed through vibrant sounds. In 2025, I attended several major music concerts organised by the newspaper. It was hard to imagine that a Party newspaper could create artistic programmes so appealing to young people. Standing among tens of thousands of young participants, joining in revolutionary songs rearranged with contemporary musical styles and enhanced by cutting-edge lighting technology, I felt deeply moved. At those concerts, generational gaps seemed to disappear.

Trust and expectations

Nguyen Van Thuoc - War veteran in Phuc Dien Ward, Ha Noi

I am now 80 years old. My greatest happiness is that my wife and I have more than 20 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom are cadres and Party members. I was fortunate to form a bond with Nhan Dan Newspaper very early on. I previously worked as an inspection official at the Son Dong District Party Committee in former Bac Giang Province.

In both work and daily life, the Party newspaper has been a spiritual nourishment and indispensable reference for cadres and Party members like myself.

In the current era of information explosion, there are countless sources across social media platforms, but I always trust the guiding information of Nhan Dan. The newspaper not only leads in disseminating Party guidelines and State policies and laws but also clearly expresses official viewpoints, serving as an authoritative voice of the Party and State on current political, economic, social and international issues.

In the coming time, I hope Nhan Dan will publish more articles introducing the thought and moral example of President Ho Chi Minh so readers may gain deeper understanding of the leader in order to study and follow his example. At the same time, it should publish more contributions from readers and contributors across various fields and continue innovating in both content and form so that it remains an ever more engaging and reliable guide for readers.

Tran Duc Thinh - Tan Cuong Village, Canh Tan Commune, Cao Bang Province

Tan Cuong is a mountainous village with 106 households and more than 400 residents, most of whom belong to the Tay ethnic group. Since 2012, I have regularly received Nhan Dan Newspaper and several other printed publications after being selected as a prestigious figure in the village.

By reading the Party newspaper, I learn about Party guidelines, State policies and laws, socio-economic development programmes, national renewal and effective economic models. During Party cell meetings and community gatherings, I share this information and contribute ideas so that Party members and residents can better understand, trust and focus on economic development.

Many useful pieces of information in Nhan Dan help orient and stabilise public opinion. In 2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, some residents were anxious due to lack of information. By following the newspaper and health workers’ guidance, I was able to share accurate information with people about preventive measures, medical declarations and avoiding panic or violations of regulations.

In recent years, African swine fever has been complicated, but through reading the newspaper our Tay community has learned more experience in preventing the disease and protecting livestock.

Receiving the Party newspaper regularly makes me feel the attention of Party committees and authorities toward trusted community figures. Over 75 years, these newspapers carrying the breath of real life have truly become a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, conveying the people’s aspirations to the Party, Government and local authorities while providing accurate information and guiding public opinion, thereby creating social consensus.

Nguyen Canh - 86 years old, Party member in Phuc Tho Commune, Ha Noi

For more than 60 years, I have regularly subscribed to Nhan Dan Newspaper - the Party newspaper I trust most and feel most grateful for. It has truly been my closest friend and teacher, educating me to become a true Communist following the example of our great Uncle Ho.

I would like to propose that Nhan Dan continue publishing more articles that refute false views of hostile forces, reactionaries and political opportunists, thereby creating a powerful wave of unity among people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese in protecting the Party’s ideological foundation.

The newspaper should also continue innovating strongly across publications and social platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, adding QR codes in the printed edition and improving distribution so that Party members and the public can use the Party newspaper more effectively.
