Le Quoc Minh—Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Publicity, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association—along with leaders from various departments and units of Nhan Dan Newspaper, welcomed the Google delegation.

The Google delegation comprised senior executives responsible for artificial intelligence (AI) transformation, technology, infrastructure, and human resources development.

Bart Higgins, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Future Perfect X and representative of the Google delegation, stated that the visit aimed to gain a deeper understanding of Viet Nam—ranging from its culture and people to the pace of its socio-economic development—while also learning about the experiences and initiatives contributing to the country’s new momentum.

Highly appreciating Viet Nam’s pace of development, members of the Google delegation showed particular interest in the role of the younger generation, shifts in information consumption habits, and how Nhan Dan Newspaper fosters innovation, builds trust, and applies technology in its journalistic operations.

In his speech, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh stated that Nhan Dan Newspaper is ramping up investment in digital platforms and has identified AI as a key pillar in the process of modernising its newsroom operations.

According to him, the rise of social media is radically transforming how the public—especially young people—access information. In this context, the press must uphold its core values and messages while innovating its presentation methods to better meet reader needs.

In recent times, Nhan Dan Newspaper has stepped up the production of digital products, videos, and short-form content, while expanding its presence on relevant platforms. This process of innovating delivery methods is consistently balanced with the requirement to ensure accurate, reliable information while remaining engaging to the public.

One area of particular interest to the Google delegation was how Nhan Dan integrates traditional print journalism with technology and interactive experiences. To mark the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the newspaper produced a panoramic supplement that allowed readers to piece together newspaper pages into a panoramic image while using their phones to access interactive content.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh introduces the special supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

This approach has been further developed in various special media projects linked to major national events, such as the publication commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the “Radiant is His Name” exhibition; a special supplement marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2); and the political-artistic programme titled “The Fatherland in Our Hearts”. These products focus on blending journalistic content with visual design, technology, and interactive experiences, thereby bringing historical, cultural, and political topics closer to the public—especially the younger generation.

Responding to a question from the Google delegation regarding how to revitalise print media during the digital transformation, Minh noted that combining technology with a tangible product—something readers can physically hold—creates a unique experience. This approach demonstrates that print media and technology are not necessarily at odds; rather, they can complement each other to expand audience reach.

Members of the Google delegation expressed admiration for Nhan Dan Newspaper’s innovative ideas and its experimentation with new formats. They noted that, at a time when traditional media faces significant challenges in maintaining public interest, the newspaper’s integration of diverse formats and delivery methods offers a noteworthy model.

During the meeting, the Google delegation also discussed the challenge of maintaining public trust while meeting the ever-increasing demand for rapid information delivery.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh observed that while the social media landscape offered a wealth of information, it also heightened the risk of misinformation and fake news. This placed a responsibility on mainstream media to continuously improve quality and authenticity, ensuring the delivery of reliable and useful information to the public.

AI was also a key topic of discussion between the two sides. Nhan Dan Newspaper aimed to gradually build an AI-native newsroom model, piloting AI tools to assist reporters in gathering and processing information, as well as in operating content management systems.

According to Minh, the adoption of AI must go hand-in-hand with workforce training and mechanisms for information verification. While technology can enhance operational efficiency, human input and the quality of information must remain central to journalistic activities.

During the meeting, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh expressed his wish for Google to strengthen exchanges and experience sharing, while also exploring avenues for cooperation with Nhan Dan Newspaper in areas such as journalism, professional training, technology, and the piloting of new products.
