Nhan Dan Newspaper presents 68,000 trees to Lao Cai to help overcome Storm Yagi’s consequences

On the morning of November 19, a delegation of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper led by Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh presented the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai with 68,000 trees to overcome the consequences of Storm Yagi.

At the event, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh said that Storm Yagi had severely affected 26 northern provinces and cities, including Lao Cai. In the spirit of mutual love and support, Nhan Dan Newspaper and its partners, including the Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank), SeAGreen Fund and BRG Group, decided to present Lao Cai Province with 68,000 trees worth 1 billion VND to join hands with the locality to overcome the consequences of storm Yagi, towards the goal of sustainable and long-term development.

The trees will support households affected by storm circulation in the Bao Yen and Bac Ha districts. The area of newly planted production forests is about 18.6 hectares.

In his speech, Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phong sincerely thanked Nhan Dan Newspaper for its practical and meaningful cooperation and contribution to supporting people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Secretary Phong affirmed that the recent natural disaster caused serious consequences, especially human losses in Lao Cai Province and that the locality is urgently conducting recovery work.

He also emphasised that all donations and support from units in general, and Nhan Dan Newspaper in particular, will be used purposefully and effectively, helping people in affected localities to overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives.
