Overseas Vietnamese are proud and aspire to contribute to the homeland

Returning to Viet Nam to attend the Homeland Spring 2026 programme, many overseas Vietnamese from around the world could not hide their emotions at the warm welcome, the rich cultural experiences on offer and the country’s remarkable transformation.

From joy to aspirations for investment, connection and greater contribution to the homeland, Homeland Spring continues to affirm its role as a firm bridge linking the overseas Vietnamese community with the motherland.

I was deeply moved and happy to be invited to attend the Homeland Spring 2026 programme and to experience many beautiful aspects of Vietnamese culture, including the custom of releasing carp. As a Cham woman from An Giang who follows Islam, although I grew up living in Viet Nam, I had almost never experienced the tradition of seeing the Kitchen Gods off to heaven. For me, it was a truly novel experience.

During this trip home with the overseas Vietnamese delegation, what impressed me most was the very warm reception extended by the Party, the State and Ninh Binh Province. I really love the beauty of Trang An. After 26 years of living in Malaysia with a busy job, I never imagined that one day I would have the chance to visit and admire Ninh Binh.

Being able to return to our homeland and witness the country’s transformation has filled us with genuine pride. Seeing Viet Nam rise so strongly and stand shoulder to shoulder with major powers around the world evokes a very special emotion for each of us. We hope that the Party and the State will continue to strengthen connections and create even more favourable conditions, so that overseas Vietnamese everywhere will have many more opportunities to return home and deepen their bonds with their compatriots.

Many highly meaningful events took place over the four days of Homeland Spring 2026. What impressed me most was the affection shown by Vietnamese agencies and authorities in welcoming overseas Vietnamese, as well as the warmth and closeness among all overseas Vietnamese from around the world who returned to take part in the programme and express their wish to contribute more to the country.

Returning to the homeland, we overseas Vietnamese were truly surprised by Viet Nam’s remarkable progress and its rapid pace of change and development. We can see many new streets, buildings and modern schools. We are also firmly convinced that rapid development, with a focus on investment in science and technology while preserving the nation’s traditional values, is the foundation for Viet Nam to enter a new era of development and to achieve sustainable, long-term growth.

Living abroad while always turning our hearts towards the homeland, overseas Vietnamese also hope that the Government and Vietnamese authorities will continue to create favourable conditions so that, from afar, we can access more information about programmes and projects and register to participate. Many young overseas Vietnamese are eager to learn about projects and hope to have opportunities to return home to contribute more to the country.

One of the most meaningful values of the Homeland Spring programme is that it not only creates conditions for overseas Vietnamese to visit the homeland, but also provides opportunities for members of Vietnamese communities all over the world to meet, exchange ideas and connect. We see this occasion as only the beginning. We will promote further activities so that Vietnamese communities worldwide can strengthen their links, share information and create programmes and events that contribute more to our homeland.

Taking part in this year’s Homeland Spring programme, I listened to many speeches by Party and State leaders that were very open and welcoming towards foreign investors. As someone who has invested in Viet Nam for many years, I feel truly encouraged and motivated to expand my investments not only in a single province, but in many other provinces and cities; not only in agriculture, but also into other sectors.

When I was in Australia and decided to invest in Viet Nam, I had many concerns about the legal framework. Now, many regulations have become clearer, more favourable and easier to navigate. Many agencies are ready to support overseas Vietnamese and businesses. We are willing to encourage more colleagues abroad to return and invest in Viet Nam.

This is the second time I have attended the Homeland Spring programme. The first time I felt somewhat unfamiliar, but this time I came with a completely different mindset, fully ready to embrace the atmosphere and explore new opportunities. Although the weather was colder this year, the spirit of unity made me feel warm and happy. Among the speeches by Vietnamese Party and State leaders, the line I liked most was: “We do not call you overseas Vietnamese, we call you brothers and sisters.” When we return, we truly feel that sense of closeness and affection.

I first returned to Viet Nam ten years ago. Each year I come back, I see the country developing and changing rapidly, across provinces, cities and even along every street. This year, the overseas Vietnamese delegation received an especially warm and heartfelt welcome.
