Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My affirmed that the Declaration of Independence, formally proclaimed by President Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese people and the world on September 2, 1945, marked a glorious milestone in the history of national construction, defence, and development. It bears enduring significance for human rights and national rights, the dialectical unity between the two, and the Vietnamese people’s aspiration and indomitable struggle to safeguard independence and freedom.
Looking back on the arduous yet immensely glorious history of the Vietnamese revolution, the indispensable and decisive role of the Communist Party of Viet Nam’s leadership manifests clearly. Guided by Marxism-Leninism and President Ho Chi Minh’s Thought, the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam have successfully fulfilled their historic mission of leading the entire nation to independence and reunification and gradually realising the goal of building socialism.
Eighty-one years on, the historic significance and enduring relevance of the Declaration of Independence to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland remain undiminished. Its immortal ideas continue to offer guidance and inspire aspirations for national development in the new era, towards a peaceful, independent, democratic, strong, prosperous, civilised, and happy Viet Nam firmly advancing towards socialism.
Reviewing Viet Nam–Venezuela relations, Ambassador Vu Trung My emphasised that over the 37 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in December 1989, bilateral ties have traversed a protracted journey marked by many important milestones, demonstrating close cooperation and friendship that transcend geographical distance. Building on solid foundations of political relations and economic cooperation, Viet Nam–Venezuela ties continue to be consolidated and vigorously developed, paving the way for the bilateral relationship to reach new heights.
Addressing the event, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania Andrea Corao conveyed the congratulations of Acting President Delcy Rodríguez to Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, other Party and State leaders, and the Vietnamese people on the occasion of National Day on September 2.
Vice Minister Andrea Corao emphasised that the August Revolution and the birth of an independent Viet Nam were historic milestones of profound significance, demonstrating the will, strength of unity, and aspiration for self-determination of the Vietnamese nation. Viet Nam’s struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as its achievements during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, continue to inspire nations striving to safeguard their independence and sovereignty and pursue development paths suited to their own circumstances.
Affirming that the Venezuelan Government and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela attach great importance to the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Partnership between Venezuela and Viet Nam, Vice Minister Andrea Corao expressed confidence that bilateral relations would transition into a new phase of development following the official visit to Venezuela in June 2026 by Politburo member and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
Vice Minister Andrea Corao said the outcomes of the visit had catalysed fresh momentum for the two sides to expand cooperation and convert the strong political foundation between the two countries into concrete results that serve the interests and aspirations of the Venezuelan and Vietnamese peoples.
On this occasion, as he prepares to conclude his tenure in Venezuela, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his deepest appreciation to the Venezuelan Government, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other local agencies and organisations, the diplomatic corps, as well as the Vietnamese community in Venezuela and the countries under the Embassy’s concurrent accreditation.
The Ambassador expressed his sincere appreciation for the valuable cooperation and support accorded by Venezuelan leaders and international friends to the Embassy and to him personally throughout his tenure. He affirmed that, regardless of his future position, he would always cherish fond memories of Venezuela and its people and continue contributing to the friendship, solidarity, and close bonds between the two nations.
