At the meeting, Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh reported on the newspaper’s implementation of its tasks and proposed several measures to further improve the quality of communications and fulfil its mission more effectively in the coming period.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam stated that this is not only an occasion for celebration, but more importantly an opportunity to candidly examine new requirements and new tasks.
The Party chief stressed that throughout the entire course of the Vietnamese revolution, Nhan Dan has always held a very special position as the Party’s official organ and the voice of the Party, the State and the people. This represents a very high political designation and an immense social responsibility.
He noted the Party highly appreciates what the newspaper has achieved over many years, maintaining firm political integrity, upholding professional standards and preserving the stature of a Party newspaper on the ideological front, while also making considerable efforts to innovate in terms of content, format, digital transformation and the expansion of its social influence.
Outlining orientations for the period ahead, the Party leader made clear that revolutionary press in general, and Nhan Dan in particular, cannot continue operating in the old way.
The newspaper must be accurate, professional, sharp, persuasive and comprehensive, and clearly define its position not only as an official organ but also as a core force on the Party’s ideological, political and cultural front.
Nhan Dan must become a centre of thought and a centre of political commentary, a force capable of guiding social awareness. It must therefore be politically sound, professionally solid, intellectually sharp, responsive, analytically profound, technologically modern and accessible in language.
General Secretary To Lam urged the newspaper to focus more strongly on truly major and strategic areas of communications, speaking accurately, directly and persuasively.
Particular emphasis should be placed on several key themes: clarifying the country’s development path in the new period, examining issues related to Party building and the political system, increasing coverage of culture, people and social issues, and improving the quality of external communications.
Nhan Dan must regard the task of refuting false and hostile viewpoints as a central task, while adopting much stronger and more innovative approaches.
The General Secretary also emphasised that the newspaper must further embody the spirit of “wherever there are people, there is Nhan Dan Newspaper” in the new context.
It must build a truly strong workforce, particularly writers specialising in political commentary, polemics and analysis, as well as journalists working in the digital environment.
At the same time, the newspaper must improve the quality of its strategic coordination with other major media organisations and the Party’s advisory bodies.
The Party chief expressed confidence that, with its proud tradition, strong political mettle and a team of experienced and dedicated staff, Nhan Dan will continue to grow, maintaining its status as a highly reputable newspaper of the Party, the State and the people, truly serving as a core force on the ideological, political and cultural front and making worthy contributions to the cause of national construction and defence.
On behalf of the staff of Nhan Dan, Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the General Secretary’s guidance represents an important orientation for the newspaper as it continues to implement its development strategy in the coming period.
He added that the staff of Nhan Dan will continue striving to enhance professional expertise and journalistic skills, strengthen their political resolve, and build a united and cohesive collective, uphold the newspaper’s proud and heroic tradition, and excellently fulfil the tasks entrusted to them by the Party, the State and the people, remaining worthy of being the Party’s political and ideological banner on the journalism front.
