Specifically, 13 projects had been completed and put into operation, 16 were under construction and the remainder in the process of finalising investment procedures.
The majority of investment projects were in the tourism industry, said the Kien Giang authorities during a working session last weekend with Singaporean investors who are on a field trip to Phu Quoc to explore investment opportunities.
In late April, an investment promotion forum was held to seek Singapore's investment in Vietnam, particularly in Phu Quoc Island, where a special economic zone will be established.
Kien Giang Vice Chairman, Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that enterprises can enjoy many investment incentives that will be applied for the first time, such as preferential policies on land, corporate income tax, high-income earner tax and import taxes.
During the forum, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh appealed to Singaporean enterprises to assist Vietnam in building Phu Quoc Island into a centre of tourism, science and technology for Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
