Phu Yen: Art exchange marks Vietnam – India diplomatic ties

An art exchange entitled ‘India – Phu Yen Meet’ was held in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, on December 6 to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – India diplomatic ties (1972-2022).

The event featured participants of artists from Phu Yen’s Sao Bien Folk Music and Dance Theatre and Indian Dance Group.

The Vietnamese artists brought to the stage a selection of performances hailing the land and people of Vietnam and Phu Yen Province in particular, while those by Indian artists introduced the audience to traditional Indian culture.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Phu Yen Provincial People’s Committee Ho Thi Nguyen Thao briefed the participants on the outcomes of cooperation between Phu Yen and Indian partners.

Accordingly, Indian is the biggest FDI investors in Phu Yen and has provided ODA for the province to improve transport network and infrastructure system.

The two sides have also hosted a diverse range of cultural exchange activities, such as the International Day of Yoga and the Namaste Vietnam Festival.

For his part, Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya, stressed that cultural and art exchange programmes have contributed to enhancing mutual understanding while boosting tourism and trade activities between the two sides.

He expressed his hope that the ‘Phu Yen – India Meet’ programme in particular will help to nurture and consolidate the traditional relations between the two countries, and promote friendship, solidarity and effective cooperation between Phu Yen and Indian partners.
