PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc pays tribute to Professor Hoang Tuy

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid tribute to Professor Hoang Tuy, a prominent Vietnamese mathematician credited for being the father of global optimisation, a branch of applied mathematics, at the National Funeral Hall, No.5 Tran Thanh Thong Street, Hanoi on July 19.

Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communications and Education Vo Van Thuong and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also came to pay respects to the mathematician.

In the book of condolence, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his sorrow over the passing of Professor Hoang Tuy, a well-known Vietnamese mathematician and a son from Quang Nam province.

The Professor left many famous mathematical works recognised by the world. He also devoted his life to his homeland, friends and comrades, the PM wrote.

Politburo member Vo Van Thuong also mourned for Professor Hoang Tuy, an outstanding mathematician and educator of Vietnam, who is the father of many generations of Vietnamese scientists.

The passing of the Professor is a great loss to his family, relatives and the Vietnamese mathematics community. He is a shining example of effort and spirit within learning for the younger generations to follow, Thuong wrote.

Professor Hoang Tuy passed away on July 14 at the age of 91.
